Steering wheel shakes at highway speeds but only sometimes
I’ve got a 2015 BMW 520i and I’m dealing with the weirdest issue. At around 120 km/h on Sheikh Zayed Road, the steering wheel starts to vibrate, but not every time. Some days it’s smooth as glass, other days it’s like holding a jackhammer. I’ve had the wheels balanced twice and the alignment checked. The tires are new and the rims aren’t bent as far as anyone can tell. A friend suggested it might be worn control arm bushings or maybe even a sticking brake caliper. I really don’t want to just start replacing parts randomly. I’m looking for a shop that offers Expert Steering System Abu Dhabi that can actually diagnose intermittent vibrations instead of guessing. Has anyone here had this exact issue on an F10 and found the culprit? I’m worried it might be the steering rack itself which I know is expensive. Also wondering if a worn driveshaft center bearing could cause a vibration that feels like it’s in the steering wheel. The car has 140k km on it and otherwise drives great. Any advice on what to check first or a good specialist in Abu Dhabi would be amazing. Thanks.
