MKZ brake pedal pulsing after a road trip to Fujairah and I’m hoping it’s just pad deposits
Took my 2017 MKZ on a nice long drive out to Fujairah last weekend to escape the city and the car was flawless on the highway but somewhere on the way back down the mountain pass I started noticing a faint pulse through the brake pedal when slowing down from higher speeds and now I can’t unfeel it every time I’m coming off the E311 onto the exit ramps around Mirdif. The car doesn’t pull to one side and there’s no warning lights on the dash so I’m hoping it’s just some uneven pad material baked onto the rotors from holding the brakes on a long descent rather than actual warped discs because I really don’t want to drop a bunch of cash on a full rotor replacement if it’s something that a few aggressive stops might clean off on their own. I was poking around online trying to figure out if these Lincolns are particularly prone to rotor warping or if it’s just a characteristic of a heavier sedan in stop and go Dubai traffic and I found a page that had a good explanation of the difference between pad deposit judder and actual runout issues and you could read full details about the various pad compounds and bedding procedures which honestly made me realize I probably just glazed the pads a bit and need to give them a proper workout. Anyone else with an MKZ or Fusion had this pulsing pedal after a mountain drive and did it sort itself out with some regular city driving or did you end up having to get the rotors machined or replaced to get rid of the shimmy?
